It is my first time coming to Playgroup! What do I need to know?Woohoo! Welcome. It’s often best to aim to arrive after 10am for your first session to ensure other families will be on site to greet you and show you around. Our playgroup is run by parents who volunteer their time to help out. We have a relaxed environment and want you to feel right at home!

What times are the sessions?Our sessions run during the school term on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 9.00am-1.00pm and on Thursday afternoon 12.30pm - 4.30pm. Pop in any time that suits you during this time slot.

I want to come more often - can I enrol for multiple days a week?We’d love to see more of you! By enrolling for one day, you may attend as many other weekdays as you wish. There’s no need to change your enrolment. Please remember to sign in for all the sessions you attend.

What is the cost?It depends on the age of your child, how many children, and who is bringing the children e.g. parent or nanny. Children aged under 1 year are FREE and a term membership starts from $30.00 for 1 x child (aged 1 year and over) attending with a parent. Can I drop off my child at the session?Sorry, no. All children are required to be supervised throughout the session by a parent or caregiver. Our playgroup is an opportunity for you to meet and chat with local families, play and explore with your child!

Can I volunteer for playgroup?Yes please!!! Our playgroup relies on volunteers to function. We have volunteer supervisors for each weekday session and volunteers on our committee. We will welcome you with open arms and are always in need of more members on the committee. Please get in touch if you are interested and email: playgroupkhandallah@gmail.com

I am the last person to leave! What should I do?Please return the sign-in register to the wall pocket by the entrance, make sure the toys are away, the heat pump and lights are off, windows are closed and everything is in a clean and tidy condition for the next day’s session. Please lock up behind you and return the key (email us or ask your supervisor for the key location).

I enrolled for one day but I’m now busy that day - can I swap my enrolment to another day?There’s no need to change your enrolment. By enrolling for one day, you may attend as many times as you wish during the week. Please remember to sign in on the register for any sessions that you do attend! You can always send us an email to let us know if you change the main day you attend - that way, we can include you in any comms that may apply to that day.

What age group is your playgroup for?All children aged under five years! We have toys and areas suitable for both babies and preschoolers.

Can I visit before enrolling?Yes, we love having visitors! You are welcome to have a free trial visit to check out our playgroup on any weekday that suits you (excluding the school holidays). It’s a good idea to send us an email first so we know to look out for you. When you visit, please introduce yourself to the supervisor and sign-in on the register. We recommend visiting between 10.00am - 12.00pm to ensure other families will be on site to greet you and show you around.

I am the first person to arrive and everything is locked up! What should I do?The early bird gets… to unlock! If you are the first person to arrive you can pick up the key (email us or ask your supervisor for the location) and unlock the facilities. Please leave the key on the hook inside to the left of the main door. You can also get the sign-in register out from the wall pocket by the entrance.

Are you open during the school holidays?Unfortunately, no. We use this time for indoor and outdoor maintenance and repairs, reorganising and extra tidying tasks.

Do we have to stay for the whole session?Nope! You can come at any time between 9.00am to 1.00pm (or 12.30pm-4.30pm on Thursdays only) and stay for as long or as little time as you want.

Do I need to clean up?Yes please! You will need to ensure the facilities are left in a clean and tidy condition before you leave. This includes vacuuming the floors, wiping down tables, benchtops and chairs and putting the dishwasher on. We ask that you remove all your rubbish and take this home with you. Please return all the toys to their original location ready for the following booking.

What are the seating arrangements?We have 20 x low chairs for children, 8 x white plastic chairs for adults (stored at the back of storage room) and 2 x couches that can seat 3 people per couch.

How can I access the facilities?After your booking has been confirmed, in the week leading up to your booking you will receive further instruction on how to access the facilities.

What kitchen equipment is available?We have a fully equipped kitchen for you to use. This includes an oven, small fridge, microwave, hot water zip and dishwasher. We have platter plates, bowls, cups, water jugs and a limited number of cutlery for you to use. Unfortunately our stovetop is out of service currently.

What parking is available?There is on-street parking on Ganges Road, Khandallah Village and on the surrounding streets. Please be aware that parking spaces in Khandallah Village have 10-minute and 60-minute time restrictions.

What times are available?Our playgroup is available to hire during the weekend on both Saturday and Sunday. Each booking time is for 4-hours duration. The morning time slot is 8.30am - 12.30pm and the afternoon time slot is 1.00pm - 5.00pm.

What are the hire costs?$50 for members and $75 for non-members per 4-hour timeslot.

Can we put up decorations?Yes, however, please only use the hooks provided. We have multiple hooks placed around the facilities for you. Do NOT use pins, Blutack or tape on the walls. Unfortunately, our walls have been frequently damaged by party decorations in the past so we thank you for using the hooks only.

Where is Khandallah Playgroup?You can find our playgroup at 11 Ganges Road Khandallah, Wellington. We are located in Khandallah Village, beneath the Khandallah Town Hall. Head down the pathway to the left of the public toilets next to the Hall to access the facilities.

I need to change or cancel my booking, what do I do?Please email our bookings co-ordinator at kpgbookings@gmail.com to change our cancel your booking. NOTE: If a booking is cancelled within 7 days prior to the booking date, there will be no refund and full payment for the booking is required. If a booking is cancelled 8-14 days prior to the booking date, 50% payment of the room hire will be required. Bookings cancelled more than 14 days prior to the booking date will be refunded the cost paid minus a non-refundable $10.00 cancellation fee. If a booking needs to be changed to a different date, this can be done at no extra cost if it is changed more than 14 days prior to the booking date. Bookings moved within 14 days prior to the booking date will incur an extra 50% room hire fee, in addition to the full room hire rate for the new date.

Can I move items around?Yes, please take care not to cause damage when moving furniture and put everything back where you found it.

Can I set up before my booking time?Generally, no. Please allow time to set up during your booked time slot. Khandallah Playgroup is very popular to hire and most weekends we have 4 x birthday parties back-to-back, leaving no extra room for additional set up time. We also have professional cleaners come in on Friday evenings and the mopped floor can take time to dry so it is not safe to set up with the slippery floor. Do you have tables?Yes! We 3 x rectangle tables with adjustable heights, 1 x spare rectangle table (located in storage room). The tables are generally set low for children to easily sit down at to eat. We also have a flower shaped crafts table and a fixed outdoor picnic table.
